James has been a teacher at the New England Conservatorium of Music for over 6 years teaching woodwind instruments, band programs, and the Chamber Music in Schools program.

James is in his final year of completing a Bachelor of Music from the University of New England.

James is an active member of the music community in Armidale, regularly performing with the Armidale Symphony Orchestra, Armidale Youth Orchestra, ADMS and school musical productions, as well as national institutions like the Australian Youth Orchestra.

James particularly enjoys playing chamber music with other members of the Armidale community for events such as the homestead/woolshed concert series.

James has a particular interest in baroque music and has recently begun learning the traverso to bring the sounds of the baroque period to the New England.
